Why Lose Money On Telecommunication
Taxes & Surcharges?
Telecommunications taxes make up a big portion of
your telecom billing total. With some of the telecom taxes around 25% it’s a good idea
to be certain that your telecom invoices are accurate. We help with auditing
your phone, smartphones, data, networks, internet, all telecommunications
invoices across the board.
The 9-1-1 (911)fees, USF, aka FUSF taxes, state taxes and local
taxes that appear as gross receipts on your telephone bills. Next there is federal
access, federal excise tax, Then there are the other fees and surcharge like telecommunications
relay service TRS, and Local Number Portability LNP charges.
Let’s go into one category Access Charges: Did you know that
service providers don’t have to charge you a set fee but they do have a maximum
fee they can tax per phone line? These access charges are not a government
charge but they are a fee set by the Federal Communication Commission FCC.
Oh there is more, much more. Customer line charge aka
Subscriber Line Charges, and Interstate Access Charge (calls made from one
state to another state) are billed on your lines also.
The State Public Service Commission PSC does regulate and
oversee Intrastate calls (those calls made within each state.
So many other fees and charges are in the phone, wireless,
data, network, and other telecom invoices.
There are monthly fees for plans, operator
charges, feature charges, and directory assistance.
In addition, there are E-Rate Programs where the Government gives funding
to help schools and libraries get big discounts from 20-90 percent! Then there’s
the Connect America Fund that is basically a federal universal service high cost
program that that gives consumers in high-cost areas internet, and broadband
access to modern communications network but give them fees as if they were in
urban areas. This applies to both fixed and wireless services areas. And there is the Lifeline service also.+
